La Habra Heights Avocado Oil
The goal of this packaging was to create an organic avocado oil product that was completely compostable, ergonomic, and spill proof. Our solution involved creating a mess free cap, using paper pulp, and a compostable plastic bladder bag to hold the oil inside. This packaging won Honorable Mention in the 2017 AmeriStar Package Awards Competition and Certificate of Merit from the 2017 International WPO WorldStar Competition.
Co-designed with Deric Shindledecker and collaborated with IT students Patrick Mccaffrey, Katie Exum, and Michael Moorehead.

Prototyping and Process
We experimented with creating a bottle based on the shape of an avocado and some more traditional bottles. However, the main challenge was coming up with a cap that was mess free. We named our product La Habra Heights Organic Avocado Oil because this was the city where the first California Hass avocado tree was grown in 1926.
